The combination of the AMSPAR Medical Terminology with the skills-based units of the SQA Medical (Administrative Secretary) qualifications offers a unique opportunity to gain skills and formal qualifications for those wishing to work or progress in administrative and secretarial roles in healthcare settings.
This qualification is designed to equip learners with the skills they will need to gain employment in the healthcare sector. The qualification is made up of three modules:
- Level 2 Amspar to Medical Terminology
- Medical Word Processing
- Medical Audio
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, although previous experience in an administrative role may prove helpful for background purposes.
On completion candidates would be able to apply for roles such as Medical Secretary or Receptionist in a hospital, GP or similar environment. Those already in employment in a healthcare setting in the NHS may be able to progress to a higher Band from a Band 2 role once they hold this qualification.
The course will take between 9 – 15 months on average and is delivered via distance learning.
